GENTLE, QUIET ORANGE BOY OFFERS AFFECTION AND COMPANIONSHIP
Hello friends! My name is Felix. I am a wonderful, young, quiet orange boy determined to be provide you with easy-going companionship and loyalty. I exhibit all of the traits that give us orange boy cats the reputation that we have for being cherished family members.
You haven't heard? Let me tell you! Orange (we're actually honey-colored) boy cats with tabby markings like mine have a widespread reputation for being some of the most agreeable, adaptable and companionable friends with fur. I'm no different, and my dream is to prove this to you.
I have a quiet, easy-going personality. I get so happy when my volunteer friends stop by to pet me, scratch my chin and rub my head. When they tell me what a good boy I am and how happy I'll be in my forever home, I purrrrrr.
When I was alone on the streets I had to defend myself from agressive cats competing for resources and one of those cats must have bitten me deeply. I am FIV+.
Don't stop reading here, because I am "Positively Adoptable."
FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. It is *not* human HIV. Humans *cannot* catch FIV. Dogs *cannot* catch FIV.
KSC has adopted out many FIV+ kitties who are now living happily as cherished family members.
FIV is spread from cat to cat by means of deep-puncture bite wounds - something that's not hard to imagine in a situation where cats have to struggle to get what they need to survive.
It means that at some point I may, or may not, develop a heightened susceptibility to the ailments that we all face regularly.
This is the "extra" that I ask of you in order to keep me healthy:
Feed me a healthy, high quality high protein/grain free (preferably wet food only, because this is so much healthier than dry food)
Keep me indoors and away from combative cats
Establish a relationship with a trusted veterinarian (who is enlightened about FIV).
Bring me to my vet regularly and any time when you notice that I'm not feeling or acting like myself (this means getting to know me well enough to understand what "acting like myself" means).
That's it. Wait, what? Yes, that's it. You'd do that for any cat you brought into your family, so I know you'll be able to do it for me.

Now that we've got that out of the way... please know that I have a lifetime of love to offer. I would love to be your best friend.
Please come and meet me. It's easy to get started. Send an email to contact@kingstreetcats.org. Ask for me, Felix. Ask my KSC friends your questions about FIV - they're happy to talk to you about this.
Hopefully yours,
Felix
