Cooper Basset Hound Adult - Adoption, Rescue for sale in Alexandria, Virginia

$250

Im Cooper, a super friendly and loving 5-year-old Basset mix and how I ended up at a shelter is a sad tale. See, I started to not feel like my happy friendly self. My owner didnt want to deal with finding out what was wrong so he took me to a shelter. The BROOD veterinarians were able to determine that I have a easily treatable chronic condition called diabetes insipidus. Now, its not the type of diabetes that requires insulin. In fact, I just get eye drops each day and that takes care of it.

BROODs medical director can give you more information about it all. But now that Im feeling healthy again, Im ready to find my forever home!!!

Im house trained and crate trained, and I can even use a doggie door. In fact, I would really love a home with a dog door or a family that is home a lot. My condition means I need to go outside a lot to potty. I am embarrassed to have an accident in the house, but I just cant help it if Im unable to get to some grass. I get along with all the dogs, people and children I meet. I love going to the dog park or strolls through my neighborhood!! Its so much fun to meet new friends and socialize!

I even do well with cats. Theres one in my foster home and I just ignore her. Im very curious about my environment and like to nose around and check it all out. My foster family said I am fitting in really well and learning the rules of the home quickly. Im a little anxious when it comes to the stairs inside and my foster family is working with me. I go up and down the stairs outside just fine though!

Im really just loving life now! And as long as Im getting love and belly rubs, I couldnt be any happier! Contact BROOD today so we can meet!! My adoption fee is $250.

BROOD will also pay for year of my eye medication as part of the adoption.

**Only BROOD approved adopters can meet a dog. The adoption application is on the BROOD website.

We require a home visit and a veterinary reference.

The age of many Brood dogs is unknown, as very few come with official records.

The estimate on the dogs age is usually the initial estimate given by the receiving shelter, which may be different from that given at the time of the initial checkup.

Different veterinarians may also give different ages, and those different opinions are sometimes reflected on the record.

***BROODs adoption fees are determined based on age of the dog.
