Cookie Basset Hound Adult - Adoption, Rescue for sale in Alexandria, Virginia

$250

I am a 4 year old Basset mix named Cookie, I guess because Im full of sugar and spice and everything nice!!! I dont know anything about who my parents were so Im not sure how I ended up with all this long, soft, beautiful black fur. I made my way to BROOD after my owners left me at a shelter, they just didnt want me anymore. Ive no idea how they could leave sweet little me behind, but thats their loss and Im on to better things!

Im housetrained and can use a doggie door too. Id say I have a love/hate relationship with my crate. I dont like going in because Id rather be with my family where all the fun is. But I eventually settle down and will sleep the night away. But my mom thinks that Im such a good girl that I really dont need a crate anymore which is awesome because Id much rather snuggle in bed with my people than by myself. I really love walks, they give my a chance to explore and investigate all the smells. In fact, I race to the door whenever my family gets near it just on the chance it is walk time! I hope you like walks too and we can smell the smells together! I do have some young dog energy and run through the yard chasing squirrels. I really love being out in the fresh air, so Ill need a home with a fence to keep me safe. I also need to be in a home as the only dog. Its not that I dont get along with other dogs. I do, as long as they treat me like the queen of the castle that I am! I like to be in charge and have things my way, what queen doesnt? I love all the people and children I meet. People just cant resist touching my soft shiny hair which means more belly rubs and scratches for me!

My foster family says I am just a delight! A quiet friendly sweet little girl that would make a great addition to any family. My adoption fee is $250.

**Only BROOD approved adopters can meet a dog. The adoption application is on the BROOD website.

We require a home visit and a veterinary reference.

The age of many Brood dogs is unknown, as very few come with official records.

The estimate on the dogs age is usually the initial estimate given by the receiving shelter, which may be different from that given at the time of the initial checkup.

Different veterinarians may also give different ages, and those different opinions are sometimes reflected on the record.

***BROODs adoption fees are determined based on age of the dog.
