Valentine Labrador Retriever Adult - Adoption, Rescue for sale in Alexandria, Virginia

Valentine was found along with her 6 pups and, of course, Lus Labs took this family in under their wing to find homes for puppies and mom! Valentine is approximately 2 years old, and a black beauty. She weighs 44 pounds, so she is a petite little lady. Valentines puppies have all been adopted, and now, it is time for Valentine to find her forever home to be pampered and loved by a family who appreciates her unique personality. Valentine has been through so many transitions of late. First, moving to a home with foster family who loved her and her pups; traveling north with her pups in the same transport; watching her pups all be adopted; and now adjusting to her life as a pup with no responsibilities, except to give and receive love! As we have gotten to know Valentine she has shown herself to be leash reactive and fearful around other dogs. As Lus Labs wants her to be in the best environment possible, Valentine will need to be adopted to a home without other dogs. This home should also have a fenced yard. She is wonderful in the home, housebroken and crate trained, albeit with a little coaxing. Who wouldnt try to work out an extra treat or two during the day? Valentine even prefers to eat her meals in her crate. She is smart and Valentine loves to please her family! She is great with humans of all sizes and ages! Her foster mom has been teaching her commands. She is great at sit and stay. With the consistency of a family and generous sharing of love (ie read: peanut butter), she could learn so much more! Valentine is not hugely treat motivated so there's no counter surfing! She does loves her dog food and guess what else? Valentine loves peanut butter!!!! It is such a bonus to know her favorite food when teaching her new skills! As Valentine becomes more and more comfortable in her foster home, her energy is growing as well as her interest in the world around her. This is a great indicator that Valentine will bring lots of love to her forever family. Valentine loves her people! She loves to talk to them. She will bark to let her humans know that she would like to play or be rubbed. She is a cuddly, loveable pup! But, please remember, being outside can cause her stress. She is very fearful around other dogs, so walks need to be monitored carefully. She will become very fearful and start to shake. She will bark at other dogs. However, she is learning after being initially afraid, to calm down and her confidence is growing! Valentine is a pup who needs lots of love. She will gladly return all the love given her with affection and loyalty of her own. Is your family the one for Valentine to join and be safe and comfortable forever?
